How to Keep Our Eyes on Our Goals
By Tana M. Mann Easton, Lead Efficiency Engineer
Once you’ve established your goals, what is your process for keeping your eyes on them? How do you make sure you don’t set and forget them?
I’ve heard of a number of good ideas for keeping goals top of mind. Some people create physical mood boards that they keep in a place where they will regularly see it. Similarly, some people write their goals on post-it notes and place those notes in places where they need to be reminded of their goals. Some people have recurring calendar reminders to remind them to review their goals at predestined cadences. Others have weekly planning sessions where reviewing their goals is part of their planning process. I personally have a task in my email system that reminds me of my goals. I note in the body of the task what I hope to accomplish and progress I’ve already made. I move it forward about once a week to make sure I’m regularly advancing my aims.
I’m sure there are more systems for keeping our eyes on our goals that I haven’t listed. The best system for you is the one you will actually use. Do you have a system that wasn’t mentioned?
