Four Seasons of Possibility
By Tana M. Mann Easton, Lead Efficiency Engineer
A year is a considerable amount of time. A year consists of four seasons of possibility and can be enough time to learn a completely new skill. If there’s a talent that you’ve always wanted for yourself, this year could be the year when you add that skill to your quiver.
What are the skills you admire in others and want for yourself? Public speaking, mindfulness, creative writing – decide the skill you want to focus on for the year and then decide the duration of each day you want to devote to learning it. For example, one year I decided I wanted to learn how to play the ukulele. I devoted 10 minutes a day to learning how to tune the instrument, how to do different strums, how to play different notes, and memorizing different songs. Within a year, I made considerable progress on that instrument. Similarly, last year I made it my mission to learn how to crochet. I set the amount of time I wanted to devote to learning the skill, and a year later, I’m very pleased with the amount I’ve learned about crocheting.
In your next four seasons of possibility, what is the skill you would like to be far better at in the end?
