Absorption Weekends

By Tana M. Mann Easton, Lead Efficiency Engineer

Is there a topic you’ve always wanted to know more about?  Consider an absorption weekend to jump start your scholarship.

Let’s say you’ve always wanted to know more about World War II, and increasing that knowledge is a goal for you in the year ahead.  Pick a weekend when you don’t have a lot going on, and devour everything you can find on that topic.  Attend seminars, read books, watch movies, listen to podcasts.  Take in as much information as you can for that entire weekend.  If you find the topic sufficiently interesting, plan more weekends or other pockets of time to continue your research.

Whatever the topic – from the history of feminism to homeopathic remedies and from the life of Shakespeare to the periodic table of elements – even just one absorption weekend brings you closer to being more of an expert than you were before.
