Reset With Kindness
By Tana M. Mann Easton, Lead Efficiency Engineer
If you fail to practice your goal for a day, resist the urge to punish yourself by doing double duty the next day. Reset with an intention of kindness instead of punishment. People burnout and quit when they miss a day of exercise or practice or whatever habit they’re practicing and they double up the next day. Goals shouldn’t be punishing. They should keep our noses pointed toward the person we most want to be. If we stray from the path for a day or two, we can kindly turn ourselves back to our journey rather than whipping ourselves back to the track. Being kind to ourselves will keep us on the path longer and lead to better results in the long run. Burnout and quitting because we’re punishing ourselves will leave our goals in the dust.
