Social Media Break Goal

By Tana M. Mann Easton, Lead Efficiency Engineer

If you feel like you waste entirely too much time on social media, perhaps a goal to cut it out for a set amount of time would help.

If you’re pretty addicted, you may want to start small.  Maybe try to take a break from it for one day each week.  During that day, will you be able to just ignore your social media apps with pure willpower?  Or will you need to set a wellness timer or mute or uninstall the apps to make them harder to access?  Have a plan for how you want to spend your downtime instead of automatically reaching for your social media platforms.

If you like the one-day break, do you want to make a goal to skip social media more often?  Perhaps a week a month?  Or a month a quarter?  Get rid of it entirely?  There’s no right or wrong answer.  We’re just trying to eliminate pastimes that feel like a waste and replace them with activities that we consciously want in our lives.  If a social media break would help you, set the goal and get to work.
