What Are Your Low Energy Goals?
By Tana M. Mann Easton, Lead Efficiency Engineer
When we’re tired, many of us reach for low-energy ways to pass our time. And often, those low-energy pastimes are doomscrolling on our phones or mindlessly watching TV. If scrolling on your phone and TV are worthwhile to you, then scroll and watch away. However, if you feel there may be better ways to spend that time with a little more intentionality, then having a list of low energy activities that maybe be more in line with your goals for the year would be handy.
What are five to ten activities that would make sense on your low energy activities list? Think of your goals and if there are any low energy ways that help you reach them. Examples include reading, audio books, podcasts, simple crafts, leisurely walks, stretching, making a familiar and easy recipe, puzzles, sketching, searching Pinterest for fun crafts or recipes or travel spots, picking a new not-too-serious movie from your Netflix queue, practicing a new strum on a guitar or ukulele, decluttering one drawer in the bathroom, revisiting memories looking through old photo albums or digital photos, staring at the fireplace or stars or birds, taking a nap, and whatever else you can think up.
When we feel like doing nothing, we don’t actually do nothing. We will do something, and it’s possible to be both low energy and intentional during these worn-out times of the day. Plan ahead, have your low energy list available in a readily accessible spot, and pick one of the items on your list next time you want to do “nothing.”
